Research has shown that high levels of astaxanthin may support:
Krill - What are they?
They are a very small type of marine crustacean that make up the biggest animal biomass in the world. Krill oil is rich in unsaturated phospholipids which bind the omega-3 essential fatty acid DHA & EPA. These phospholipids are very similar to those in the human brain.
Phospholipids (phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol) are a large part of our cell membranes and are vital for life. They act as cellular messengers and also transport DHA & EPA.
Seeking Health Optimal Krill Oil has a very high level of phospholipids which has been standardised to contain at least 40% phospholipids (most of which are phosphatidylcholine). Optimal Krill Oil is also made from virgin krill oil which is one of the purest forms of this oil available.
Krill get their orange colour from eating the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis which is a rich source of asataxanthin.
Seeking Health Optimal Krill Oil contains extra astaxanthin (AstaReal) which is taken straight from the microalgae without the use of solvents. AstaReal is the best astaxanthin available and has been used in more than 40 clinical trials (both human and animal).
Other Antioxidants
Seeking Health Optimal Krill Oil also contains several other naturally occuring antioxidants including canthaxanthin, beta–carotene, vitamin E and trans–retinol vitamin A which give additional support against free radical damage. These antioxidants also help to protect the oil itself.
A unique cold extraction method is used that makes the krill oil in Seeking Health Optimal Krill Oil stable. Its protects the lipids in the oil from becoming oxidised or altering their nature. Seeking Health Optimal Krill Oil is also highly purified and contains no contaminants such as heavy metals or organohalides.
